Cookie policy

The cookies and similar technologies used on rothian.com, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to change your choice.

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, work in much the same way, and this policy covers them too. We keep cookies on rothian.com to a minimum.

Your choice

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept optional cookies. Nothing optional is set until you choose to accept. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the site works fully either way.

You can change your mind at any time by selecting Cookie settings in the footer of any page. If you withdraw consent, we delete the optional cookies we set on our own domain and reload the page without them. Cookies set on another company’s domain, such as linkedin.com, can only be removed through your browser settings.

We ask again every six months, or sooner if we add a new type of optional cookie.

Strictly necessary

These make the site work and remember your cookie choice. The law allows them without consent, and they cannot be switched off.

Our hosting provider may also use short-lived, strictly necessary technologies to protect the site against abuse and to route traffic.

Measurement without cookies

We count page visits and the kind of action taken — a form sent, an email or phone link followed — using Amelia, our own measurement service on amelia.rothian.com. It is listed here rather than under Analytics because it stores nothing on your device: no cookie, no local storage, nothing that persists after you leave, and nothing that could identify you or follow you to another site. There is accordingly nothing to consent to and nothing to switch off. It does not run on the Investor Hub or any signed-in page.

The chat button

Ask Amelia, in the bottom corner of every page, opens a chat with our own AI assistant. Nothing loads until you press it: the chat software, the panel it opens in and anything it stores all arrive on your first click, so a visitor who never opens the chat never contacts it at all.

Once you do open it, Amelia stores a small marker in your browser (amelia-chat, in local storage) so a reply from us can reach you if you come back, and the conversation itself is held on our own system at amelia.rothian.com. Clear your browser's site data for rothian.com to remove it. Anything you type into the chat is handled as described in our privacy policy.

Analytics (optional)

Used only if you accept analytics cookies and only while we have Google Analytics enabled. They tell us, in aggregate, how people use the site so we can improve it. We configure Google Analytics not to use this data for advertising unless you have also accepted marketing cookies.

Marketing (optional)

Used only if you accept marketing cookies and only while we have the LinkedIn Insight Tag enabled. They let us measure how our LinkedIn advertising performs and show our adverts to people who have visited the site.

Links to other sites

Links to LinkedIn, to the sources we cite in Insights, and to our agent product sites take you to websites with their own cookie policies. We do not embed third-party content that sets cookies before you have agreed to it.

Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies. The ICO’s guidance on cookies explains how. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site remembering your choices.
